I mostly make pots. They are mostly round and made of the earth. Over and above that it is all fluff.
If I'm not making pots I’m spreading paint around. I think I might be five. Click here for my gallery.
I went to Byam Shaw school of Art when it was still a small independent outfit with a long history of traditional and rigorous art training and education. I was lucky enough to be taught some very out of fashion traditional techniques which I think set me up with a good foundation. I then went on to Edinburgh College of Art which was the complete opposite, but equally thrilling and educational. I studied painting and drawing.
Having graduated, I won a scholarship to go and paint in Italy. I did this for the next year and then the next few years were travelling, painting and travelling some more.
At 26, I founded a design company, focusing on ethical reclaimed timber and furniture design, serving a global clientele. However, family life became my primary focus when I had four children. Despite creative pursuits taking a back seat, a few years ago, a newfound passion for ceramics emerged.
During lockdown, I built a studio, and now, with the children more independent, I spend my time making with mostly found clay and minerals. Rooted in history and fascinated by traditions, my work aims to continue the timeless human journey of shaping mud into meaningful vessels.
Nestled on Bodmin Moor, I find inspiration in the elements surrounding me. The results of this journey are showcased in my shop, where each piece carries the intention and care of its creation.
